Hit the pier at dusk and set up 2 rods. One with bait and one with sabikis. The order of the night was to get the girlfriend hooks so i showed her how to use the sabikis over the side of the pier and handed over the rod. As i was baiting up the other rod i heard a few yelps coming from behind me and she had her first 2 or 3 coalies hanging off the line. We unhooked them and sent the sabikis back down and it carried on like this for a while wit the only other thing hooked being a rope

Headed down to cobh as the petrol tank was making the decisions and it wasn't taking me too far afield. Got set up with two rods, one out far with a 2 hook clipped down and one in close with an armor plated 8/0 pulley rig for congers. I had 2 codling on the first cast out far so rebaited and recast. Got chatting to a lad that was fishing up the way from me who had no luck. I had another codling on that cast, another 2 on the next cast. Then as i was rebaiting the ratchet on the conger rod gave a buzz. I was delighted to hear any movement on it and waited for another bite, but nothing happened. That was the story for the night only for another 2 small codling. Biggest codling was about a pound, if even that so it wasn't a great night but i was out there trying anyway so i was happy. Can't wait for the congers and i'll be waiting when they arrive. Sorry no pictures from last night but i left the camera in the car and i wasn't going to get it for that size of fish. The lad up from me had 2 small codling and a doggie when i was there. All my codling were caught on razor so thanks to donal domeney for them. Nothing touching crab baits.
