IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ IF CONCERNED ABOUT SACs
Hi Lads,
We have finally got a document together to respond to the proposed SACs for North Coast and the Maidens
Have a read of it Here
If you support our stance, please email your full name and email address to
nirsaalliance@yahoo.co.uk
We will add you to our mailing list and try and keep you informed of what is going on. We will also add your name in an appendix to the document saying you support our stance.
Input to the document was provided by Mike Barrie, Maurice Burrows, Colin Finney, Tommy Martin, Davy McCormick and Trevor Thompson.
This document is not linked to Sea Angling Ireland or any other forum in any way.
There is also a facebook page Here and it will be updated from time to time as well.
Cheers,
Trev

Re: IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ IF CONCERNED ABOUT SACs
hi guys
im a mod on bai. i live in newtownabbey.
i am one of the members of nirsaa, the new pressure group in the north who are trying to gather support against the niea plan to stop rsa anchoring in their proposed new sacs.
we are finding the silence deafening on all sites when we ask for support.
why is this?
we are trying to uphold rsas right to fish.
it is my belief that all site mods and club admin when they accept their positions of authority should tell members their positions on political problems facing anglers, otherwise ,what is the point of holding office?
so i ask now, are the mods and club officials on this site happy with the niea plan to bar us all anchoring in over 60sq miles of irish sea reefs?
at least 50% of my yearly fishing is done at anchor. its the only way to fish for bottom feeding species.
in england and scotland ntzs are now being introduced. this is the goverments natural progression from a sac.
i know most of you fish beaches, and maybe think, it doesnt effect me. well if you boat fish in the 2 proposed sac areas it does, you wont be allowed to anchor.
and if you shore fish in the skerries sac then a cloud hangs over your sport as it could become a ntz in the future.
the eec are paying the niea to find' rare' things and protect them. when they find that something on your local beach dont say you wernt warned.
people in authority please tell us your opinions.weve told you ours.

Agreed,
MCAs & NTZs are a serious threat. Recommend, if you havent done so already get on the mailing list, and join the FB group.
It's our right to fish these areas we're talking about here.

Would also be interesting to hear the views of IFSA and EFSA Big C I have sent emails off to both organisations for their comments. We will see?

Re: IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ IF CONCERNED ABOUT SACs
the UPC will have a response in this week, the ifsa conservation pollution officer is martin howlin if you are looking to get hold of him on the matter pat, contact details should be in the ifsa diary.
quite a lot of people just seem to be taking the stance that rod and line angling will not be affected, its just commercial.....its a rumour that seems to be spreading around the coast and it is easier for people to go with this notion due to their lazyness.
perhaps nothing may come of these proposals to affect the majority of anglers, but we MUST get our responses and concerns into them now while we have a chance.

So far we only have 21 supporters signed up (6 of those being the Authors).
Time is running out as we need to make sure we get this in before the 7th April Deadline.
Thanks to those who have backed us so far.
Come on lads 100 would be nice.

Re: IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ IF CONCERNED ABOUT SACs
My God we deserve all we get if this thread can have 555 views, 16 replies and only 15 people sent their details in support.
I give up I hope some conservationists find a rare algae off some wexford/waterford/cork beaches and try to turn them into SAC's and when you all start whinging I will point you to this thread.

Re: IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ IF CONCERNED ABOUT SACs
Indeed. What are these lads asking for? A simple expression of support. You just have to send them an email with your name and email address. That's all. They're doing all the heavy lifting here. You don't even have to go so far as writing a letter, finding an envelope and stamp and posting it off to a Govt Minister.
The Irish Bass campaign got a fantasic response asking for that. These guys are asking for a lot less and they're getting a lot less support, it seems.
So, perhaps anglers disagree with their stance and won't support them. Well, feel free to post your opinion on this thread too.
Otherwise, shame on the apathy. And when some aspect of your sport is threatened in your immediate area, who are you going to call on for help? And do you think you'll get it, or deserve it?
