Reel seats

#1 Post by David »

What size and kind of reel seat would fit a Greys mercury rod.
Thanks

David,

I've changed most of my rods at this stage from coasters to fixed reel seats. I have found the Abu GripLok reel seats permanently fixed into position excellent.

I know the whole ideas behind these is that you can move em up and down the rod butt, but I feel they slip and prefer them permanently glued down plus the trigger grip is excellent if you intend using the rod with a multiplier.

I agree with Liamo on this one.
The abu reel seat is hard to beat. 8)
Penn's reel seat is very secure although can be very bulky under your hand. :?

I use the new talon 2 reel seat/coasters and fine them faultless although you have to be careful you don't tighten it too much as it could crack the blank

I like the Abu, but it can slip unless you glue it. I use the Fuji screw winch fitting reel seats. They are nice and slim and very comfortable.

Have a look at the http://www.Veals.co.uk web site and see which one suits you.

A word of warning, if you do intend to glue the reel seat down. Be 100% sure that the reel seat is where you want it as mistakes are difficult to rectify. The ABU is the real deal for me.
