n.e.antrim 19/3/11

#1 Post by chuckaroo »

People: myself

Duration: couple of hours 5.30 - 8pm

Tide: out on arrival

Weather: nice. pretty cold

Bait: spinners and mack

Rigs: aye

Results: coley, rockling

Report:
weather was good so headed to a rock mark to try for pollack. tried for over an hour but only managed to hook one - well, im guessing it was a pollack anyway - he got into the kelp and that was the end of that!
decided then to fish with 2 mackerel-baited rods to see what was about. cast the first rod out at distance and dropped the second below my feet. got a coley straight away. managed a nice wee 3 bearded rockling and a coley on the other rod. that was about it, had to pack up and head home before the tide came in and marooned me! ..and i had an appointment... in the pub
had a quick chat to two other guys who had travelled up from belfast who were fishing on the rocks just up from me. they were particularly hopeful for success as the tide was going to be big that night.. big moon.. but they hadnt managed anything as yet

not a particularly over-productive session but was pleased to add another species to the list for the year :)

Lovely looking rockling Charlie, a good one to get ticked on the list, not an every time out species at all. Good pic on the green algae, great colours.

Edit, or is it just green limestone???? V nice no matter what.

So that was you mate. Glad you got some fish. I finished with a pollock a coley and a wee cod. Best about 30cm. My buddy had a pollock about 37cm. Not great fishing but untill the wind started to pick up it was a lovely evening to be out
