morriscastle beach 16 3 11

#1 Post by CIANDOWNEY »

Bait: lug, rag , mack, prawn, sandeel, crab, razor

Rigs ; PENNEL , FLAPPERS

Arrived high tide, three lads.

We had 1 doggie, 2 rockling, 1 dab and a plaice that was 44cm absolute monster last cast of the night, using a pennel rig loaded with three full sandeel, pretty amazing , never caught a plaice using full sandeel and on a 4/0 pennel rig.

Quiet night all the same, sea was like a lake it was that calm.

sounds to me the trouble is on your camera.you computer should automatically pick them up.maybe be a good idea to ask a person in a camera shop or email the company brand of camera, cause pictures make your report so much better.hope you get all sorted soon.my uncle in dublin used to fish that beach alot in his younger days.some great reports he used to tell me from back in the late 60,s/70's.it aint like that now

Fished there last night myself, left about 930, didnt see anyone else though. Had ten fish in 5 casts, a double a cast. 3 flounder, 4 dabs, 2 whiting and a small smoothhound. Loads of fish going on a lovely night. Only used blacks and a bit of mackerel. If thats east coast fishing at a bad time of year, im going to like living here :-)
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

I know thats whats so good about this site the photos, im defo gonna head to a camera shop and ask them , have to get my pictures up some amazing stingray and wahoo from puerto rico , go there about three times a year fishing, just waiting to get a marlin, thats my dream in life!!!
Grady, the plaice was pure fluke, was tryin for a huss it is early but heard reports and seen the photos they are being caught there. if i was fishing for flats id use a 1/0 kamasan hook , wishbone with plenty of bling and a sliver of silver mack and other hook loaded with rag. we arrived at 6.30 and fished about 600-700 yrds to the right were theres rough ground, great in the summer for bass too. first 200 yrds of the beach gets disturbed by swimmers , we never caught anything big there.
i remember two yrs ago we were walkin back to the van and saw two foreign lads holding up a bull huss, they were locked and in hesterics they didnt know what it was , they didnt have a clue about fishing , knew by there set up , they had a hook just tied on to there mainline and a weight with a fillet of mackerel, well the huss was at least 10lbs it had a head like a human. biggest fish i ever seen caught of that beach. they were keepin it, and we took it of them and released it. they were going mental. finest huss i ever seen from the shore.
