Commercial restrictions in Brandon Bay

#1 Post by rapala »

...On the same call another rumour was fed to me saying the whole area was to become a no-fish zone for commercials and decommssioned trawlers were to be towed out and sunk to provide wrecks for fish to live in.
Anyone know owt about this?....or has the wee fellah been on the potato juice again..

Hope its true. Have the place littered with items that make it too risky for netsmen to do their business. It has been done in the states very successfully. Believe it or not, a lot of old US army tanks are dumped at sea, to create artificial reefs. It works.

I really hope its true. We watched a Trawler do the bay for 4 days non-stop last year. Surprisingly there was no fish caught in the bay afterwards!!
