Ger its important to get a skipper who is willing to work for you if ya know what i mean.......and one who can facilatate what species of fish you are after...... we hear so many skippers of the charter boats communicating over the vhf whilst out fishing ourself and they certainly aint putting people over fish worthy of the fee they are charging....do your home work on this one it will be the difference on the day............

Yup, I'm hoping to find someone who does a package deal - someone who has links to the accomodation or has an arrangement with the accomodation, that can offer us an all-in deal: one or two days chartering with 2 or 3 nights accomodation, for a set price. That makes it easy for the club to figure out it's budget & to organise the trip.

Mary Gavin-Hughes in Mayo does this, and we're thinking of BellaVista in Cork too.

But I fancies a bit of Wexford.....

i can genuinely recommend Paul bates and the lady Allison. super skipper goes hunting fish rather than parking , he also has contacts at the local hotels to cater for visiting anglers. have been out with other skippers in kilmore there all good but paul bates left a lasting impression simply because he fishes himself. and likes to share his vast experience with novice anglers.last time out we had three lads never fished before paul had them tying there own rigs and taken there fish off in less than half an hour.you just tell him what you want to target and he will put you on them

Kilmore Quay`s you`re best bet, very angler friendly. Fished with Dick Hayes (Enterprise) and Eammon Hayes (Autumn Dream) many times, both will do their best to help you. Stayed at The Saltees Hotel ideal for anglers, also stayed at Quay House slightly smaller rooms but cheaper, either way you can`t go wrong. Plenty of places to eat there all within walking distance.

Joe Byrne in Courtown. That time of year there should be plenty of smoothies, ray, huss and tope to be had. Im sure he could give ya help with sourcing accomodation too.

Hi Gerry, Courtown would be totally different style of fishing being mainly animals, smuts, tope, ray and the like but can be pretty special in its own right too. Joe Byrne is a gent and would have no issue I'm sure sorting accommodation for you. Kilmore Quay is my favourite venue in the country and I can highly recommend Eamonn Hayes and Leslie Bates from personal experience. More species from Kilmore alright but there wont be many surprises for you down there.
