Cushendun Beach 25.02.2011

#1 Post by Tony T »

Time: 21:00 - 0030

Tide - Low tide 2300

Weather: Breezy at times but mostly fine.

Bait: Lug and Mack

Results: 10+ pin whiting (1x 25cm tho!!), 2 or 3 coalies.

Howdy folks,

First outing of the year and so decided to hit Cushendun as a warm up to bigger, better things later in the year. I wasn't expecting much and that's what I got.

An onshore breeze made casting at any range difficult but that didn't matter as the rod never stopped bouncing the minute it hit the water. Some of the whiting were bigger than usual and on my last cast I got a cracker at over 25cm but other than that nothing showed up. Was hoping for a few dogs for a bit of sport but scored nil.

Was still good to get out anyway and saved my head for the party tonight :-P

No pics as i'm sure anyone who has fished since October knows what a small whiting looks like!

Cheers

cheers lads. Cushendun is always a nice spot to fish despite the results. I noticed though that the beach had changed since last visit in November. The stones were more spread out and further up the beach...must have seen some big tides of late.
