Fundamental difference between Rockling Species, 20/02/2011
People: Davy McCormick, Drew
Duration: 5.30pm - 9.30pm
Tide: Pushing
Weather: Wind in the face, start of the rain
Bait: Frozen Black Lug, Mackeral
Rigs: 2up1down, Flappers
Results: 3 Bearded Rockling, 5 Bearded Rockling, Shore Rockling, Flounder, Coalies, Codling, Whiting
Report:
Well it was off to the North Coast, to find a howling wind and nasty conditions. Not to be detered we got the gear down to the mark, and started fishing for around 5.30pm. Things were pretty slow to start of, and the dangling rods accounted for a lone coalfish before the light went.
I had a Rod out on the sand, which accounted for many species for the night, fishing a VERY long 2up, 1down, with 20lb Rig Body, and 10lb Flurocarbon snood, terminating in size 2 B940ms. The flounder seemed to be going wild for baits on the long snoods, which also picked up some codling, a whiting, Coalies and a 5 beard.
We had a few rods fishing cracks in the rocks nearby and thats where the real fun was happening with Dave picking up a few 3 Beards, and Shoreys on fish baits, I was a little preoccupied with the rod on the sand so I didn't get anything in the rocks!
We got a good picture of the 3 Rockling species, and all fish were released, none the worse for wear. In regards to this mark, there must be a few mentalists who fish it, we found a Pike trace with a Treble on it (some use in the sea?), and I snagged and retrieved a 3 Hook Hokeye trace (God knows what someone was expecting at this time of year with that!).
Oh and a Random Lobster, no trip north is complete without a lobster.

Drew get a job! All your fishing is making me jealous! Evey 2nd day you have a report, and each time your out your getting great fish!
Got to love the rockling pic, that shorey is a beast compared to the others. It be nice to get one, as I'm tired off the 5 bearded I keep getting!

Hiya Sparkie dude...
The monster is a 3 Beard, they're the biggest of the rocking species and they give a hell of a good scrap on the right type of tackle...
Yeah man, love my fishing, will be down your neck of the woods plenty over the summer hopefully... Need my Smoooooooothie for the year...
