south beach arklow 18th feb

mPeople:me and anto byrne/not from site

Duration:11.30 til 15.00

Tide:high tide turning

Weather:foggy and cold

Bait:lug tipped with mac

Rigs:3 hook flappers

Results:me=11whiting and 4 dabs/other anto=codling 25cm/8whiting and 1 scorpion fishand 2 dabs




Report:i decided to bring my mate down to arklow to christen his new rod n reel.he was a very happy camper after 1st cast produced a 25cm codling and an 16cm dab.we had fish on every cast so it wasnt long before bait was gone :cry: all fish were small but still enjoyed a livley few hours.on the way home home all i was listening to was where we going next time ,another man addicted :D

Good mix of species and plenty of them, any pics of the scorpion?
2013 Sea Species:- Bass, Flounder, 5 Beard Rockling, Shore Rockling, Whiting, red gurnard, grey gurnard, Pollack, coley, mackerel, sea trout, cant remember cos I didn't update at the time.....
2012 Sea species:- Pollack, Coley, Mackerel, Cod, Bass, Sea Trout, Haddock, Plaice, Dab, Flounder, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Pouting, Whiting, Corkwing Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Brown Trout caught on beach.
2011 Sea species:- codling, L.S. dogfish, coley, whiting, pollack(4lb 3oz), sea trout, shore conger eel (15lb), ballan wrasse, grey gurnard, plaice, dab (and lobster).

pics of scorpion in other antos phone cahal.if your after them as mini species the north wex beaches are a good place to try.a few of them caught at rnli fundraiser last month in courtown :wink:
