Excellent fishing, report, and pics once again Al,,,,,i'd love a decent plaice, i have to say,and youre ones are so clearly plaice, theres no mistaking, not like some of the ones i 've caught, where i'm looking for bony nodules (any excuse to write BONY NODULES ). I'm deffo going to head up the Antrim Coast this year and get in on the action and craic . Was great meeting up with you guys again, and great to meet Drew, who seems a like minded soul. Hopefully all will be well and we'll meet up again before too long, all the best , Dave

Great fishing and a load of different species

Cracking session,Jordan's new rod looks like it would be brilliant fun.

he had a blast with it. pulling in double shots of 30cm coalies had it doubled over . now he can't wait to get a mack or wrasse on it during the summer

Brilliant report and lovely pics as ever Al, lovely flatties, really good to see the plaice putting in an appearance, with a bit of luck one of us might hit a good plaice in the months ahead.

That fella that had the good flounder to your left, he said he caught strange little brown fish with its eyes on top of its head and it was very slimy/slippery, it had to be a rockling?

good to get a chat again man we live in hope of getting something bigger from there this year that fella's flounder is a tiddler from some of the pics of fish i saw taken from that area last summer. 2lb plaice and bigger turbot were all caught in the same area last year,,, so we live in hope

thanks brian. that area always throws up the odd plaice now and again. the biggest i've ever seen taken from that general area was around the 2lb mark. but sadly 98% of them are under 25cm, but still nice to get onto the 2011 species list

thats fishing i got home from work a bit early put on the dinner as herself wasnt well ,loaded up my gear and arranged to meet gordy and connor down wicklow way ,by the time i had scoffed my tea it was pelting down ,a quick call to the boys confirmed it was bucketing down on the beach too my bait is back in the fridge and i just finnished servicing two reels FOR TOMMOROW NIGHT SORRY LADS (their are only so many pelting down sessions a man can do in one week!)

sorry to hear that roger. the weather up on the north coast on sunday was great. we were fishing away in t shirts and jeans until after 9pm when it started to get a bit nippy. but it was like a summer's night where we were. it was great to be getting a session in where we were'nt wrapped up in multiple layers for a change . good to meet you man and put a session in with you

That was a great haul off fish, that really does make up for the nite we had Saturday! I'm glad the bait we gave use worked and was put to a good use, as it didn't really do to good for us on Saturday nite and my bait was only going to go to the bottom off the sea!
Hopefully this Saturday evening/nite is going to produce some decent fish for me! I'd settle for one flattie and no rocklings!

Lads that sounded like some cracking session, good to see drew out and in good form, thats some tally of fish and species And ye had the weather with yous as well, first session on saturday night in a couple of weeks and got slaughtered with wind and rain but thats the joy of sea fishing

cheers man. yeah, saturday was a howler to say the least . but it was good to see the lads and wet a line somewhere different. but sunday was a whole different matter. clear skys, not a breath of wind and it did'nt rain on us for a change

great report al. and nice pics too.good to see jordan making good use of his new rod. its time to get making plans for the mayo session.... . but dont tell drew or there will be no flatties left on the west coast . .

as soon as my dad gets on the mend we'll be over man . noel has bee at us for a bit now to go on a thornie hunt and as soon as things settle at home we'll be over . so catch whatever flatties you can for now as drew will be after them all

I can't thank Al and Young Jordan enough for going to the effort of picking me up, and dropping me home! First full session up North with these 2 fishing nuts and all I can say is, their enthusiasm is contagious. It was great to see the flats in such numbers, and a good variety of species making things interesting. Jordan is king of the Coalies with his new rod! As I've said I havent enjoyed a fishing weekend like that in some time. Makes me happy to be a member of S.A.I, and proves what the lads on this forum are capable of when they get together! Thanks again Al, for the cracking Coffee, the Banter, and putting us onto such great fishing. Legend.

nb... The Videos are on my Iphone, which I decided to drop into a little saltwater puddle on a certain Antrim mark tonight, its looking bleak for it, but if I can salvage the videos off it tomorrow when I take it out of the hot press I'll certainly post them.

not a problem drew your more than welcome. just think about all the different marks you can attack once you get your licence i'll have to sort a summer mini meet for us all to have a bash at the specimen wrasse up the antrim coast. it will be good to get the dublin, wicklow and galway lads up for a go at something different

nice one guys nice to see plan b working out for ya's, more often than not the back up plan is required that wee rod looks great jordan, you'll have some fun with the wrasse in the summer.

WOW that was a great session, nice to see the plaice and your pis are very, very good. s tat a casting rod that Jordan has, I have never tried one and doubt I would be able to cast one, a beachcaster is another animal.
Sleep time is near, but very well done to all, I am of to Youghal tomorrow hoping for a few cod and a chat with seanie.

cheers wez and good luck on the cod hunt . yeah it's a wee baitcasting set up. rod looks flimsy as hell but apparently they are as strong as an ox. can't wait to see him hit into a nice wrasse on it. i'll have to get the video camera out for that one and post it with the report when it happens

that super session i think its the best what you can get in february al, it would be very hard to get that many dabs in one session anywhere alse drew

boney nodules!! sounds very mills & boon dave
you'll deffo have to make it up the north coast this year man . we'll take you out to our ling, cuckoo wrasse and ray marks to try and get you into something a bit different . one mark in particular has a good stock of 4lb+ wrasse and big conger eels from about june onwards.

Nice fishing guys. I've never tried that spot but I'll try to give it a go this Summer. WE had good sport at the rocks round the corner to the left. back in August. I'm guessing the pier wouldn't be as snaggy as the rocks.

thanks man. when we first started out we thought coalies, whiting and pollack were all the same fish . that's one of the reasons we always put up pics of our catches. they might not be record breaking fish. but you have to remember the site is'nt just made up of seasoned anglers who can spot a coalie, whiting or plooack from 100 yards off, but a lot of beginners too. so it's always good to remember where you started from yourself

cheers alan, pretty clean ground man. no lost rigs or leads at distance and jordan got all his coalies within 20 feet of where he was standing. but those rocks you were fishing from usually hold the bigger stuff
