30 minute session and got number 2 of 2011

hey lads i went down this evening for a small session at around half 4 to a local mark.i had hoped to stay for a couple of hours maybe till 7 or 8.there was a surf up and every thing looked good,,,,,banged out first rod,then got the second 1 ready when i seen my line gone away to the left.it wasnt a fish.it was WEED.and by hell i wasnt in the form for this all nite.i wasnt gonna even bother with the second rod to be honest but i had it baited with sandeel and whitebait so i said id peg it out for the sake of it.reeled in me first rod which had a huge lump of weed on it.put that 1 away and went to reel in the second 1.had a lump of weed on it also but under the weed i found this thats in the pic below.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i was a happy camper then.got the pic and the fish was returned to fight another day,,,,,,,,cheers brian

wasnt bad at all razor.didnt expect it at all.to be honest i was at the venue for half and hour and the rods were probably out for 15 mins most.i could of been on for a good session if all that weed wasnt there but theres always next time

thanx paula the weed seems to be everywhere these days.them heavy seas a week ago must of uprooted everything

its a funny bait.it works well 1 day and crap the next.so far i know of bass,seatrout,turbot and flounders caught with it.u cant beat the mack thou

Its a long spined bullhead/ sea scorpion, just a very red one, I'll send you the full pic later. i was catching them in a whole variety of colours in rock pools recently but that one came from the open sea on a strip of mackerel fished for pollack from the boat. He wasnt near the hook but he held on tight.

Yeah you can see your trout slimness in the pic in your hand. More than likely spawned this winter.

Here are pics of that wee red 'long spined sea scorpion' Brian, caught in summer 07 over kelp in fairly deep water while pollack fishing.

I'll send you some pics of other juvenile ones caught in rockpools in December, all different colours.
