west coast seatrout 31-02-11

People:me and jason

Duration:11am-4pm

Tide:high 4pm

Weather:rough,sw winds

Bait:lug,sandeel.mack

Rigs:one up one down,two hook flappers

Results:flounder, seatrout

it was a bit rough out but we went anyway,after a bit of digging we got to the mark about twelve,stright away we were into good flounder to 38cm,things went a bit quiet,and the wind was blowing so hard we could not see the bites on the rods :shock: i went to bring in my light rod and got that double tap and knew a good fish was on,he tore up and down the surf line,giving a great scrap,i finally landed a nice trout that was in fantastic condition,so a very quick photo and he went back,again it went quiet,but then jason lifted into his fish and it all happened again,he got a great fight and soon landed a fine trout a bit bigger than mine,again a quick photo and back to swim away strongly. :D :D after jason stopped jumping around the beach :D we decided it was time to pack up as the wind went to storm levels.we finished a bit earlier than expected,but with a good flounder each for the tea,and some photos of the trout to annoy john and dan :D we were quiet happy!!

Mayo seems to be throwing up allot of trout at the moment, cant wait to give it a go the next time i'm up that direction! Well done men :mrgreen:

its the time of year for them all right,they can be a bit spent at this time of year,but these were in fine condition.

you will have to come down during the summer,i know a few spots to get them on lures....just bring the licence!! :D
