Re: digging bait??
for me it depends on how cold it is. was gonna go yesterday morning but there was a heavy ground frost with temps of about -1 to -2. the worms would have been deeper due to the cold so decided not to bother as i didnt need them yesterday.
its a lot warmer today so it will be much easier digging, altho if i needed them for yesterday i still would have gone out.

Re: digging bait??
What do you mean by early - 3 am ?
I got a nice bunch of lug on Sunday, started digging at 8 am (which is very early on a Sunday for me!!!)
Time shouldn't make any difference, I just find it easier to see them when the sun is well up.

I agree, Shouldn't make a difference. you might just have to dig a bit deeper when it's cold. I find it easier digging at night myself, the headlight reflects off the lug and in some places on the east coast they are glow in the dark thanks to sellafield!

Re: digging bait??
Thanks lads.yes the cold was what I was considering and not really the darkness.didn't know if they are going really deep and so is to hard to find them.Sure will give a try then.thanks again.
