Report:hit youghal with high hopes of some decent codling but the fishing was not great first cast i had a decent flounder at 34cm that was it for the next hour and half so we packed up and headed for ferrypoint to set up camp for the night had rods in the water for 4.30 but not a tap till low water then the fish came on the feed with us geting bites every cast but the fish were mostly small but when the tide started to kick back the fish got a little bigger no monsters with the biggest being 42cm about a pound and half i also picked up a nice whiting about a pound both of us lost good fish close to shore in what we think was some sort of ledge a few yards out not what what we were hoping for nice to open the acount for 2011

Re: youghal & ferrypoint 28-1-11
Well done lads. Plenty of fish down there last weekend. You were right tightlines I got hung up in the same spot. I'd say its just the edge of the channel where the tide rips through and at HW you're fishing a few yards back from it. Sure we'll know its there next time

Re: youghal & ferrypoint 28-1-11
Well done on the fish lads, good mover to go across to ferrypoint, it payed of well in the end. I heard someone else say about losing a good fish near the shore over there also he said it was weed. I have never gone over to there so I do not know for sure what it is, but I am sure some of the guys will know for sure.
