Angling Ireland Show 2011, Belfast

#1 Post by flyno »

Hi, i was wondering if anyone has went to this show before and if it is worth the trip or is the one in Dublin in February a better option. The one for Belfast is for next weekend in the Kings Hall. Cheers..

we did'nt make the one in citywest last year, but apparently it was ten times better than the belfast one that we did go to :roll: :roll: a lot of stallls geared up for the course and fly lads, but there was still some sea fishing gear available. the only advice i could give you on the kings hall show is to go on the last day as you will have better haggling power with the stall holders :wink: :wink: i got a nice spinning rod bartered down from £29.99 to £20.00. :P so what i saved at least covered the door charge i had to pay to get in :wink:

I go most years to the Belfast show and I will more than likely go next weekend for a nosey around to see what's on offer.
Although mainly catered for the the fly-angler and the game/coarse angler, there is still some quite good sea fishing tackle on sale and is worth a look. Again, like last year, it is being held alongside the Holiday World and the Caravan & Motorhome Shows which is something else to look at when you are there.
If I do go I will be going on the Sunday as this is the better day to go if you are looking a bargain. You do get the better deals on the Sunday, the tackle dealers and stall holders there are quicker to give you discount on the last day just before they finish up as they would rather get rid of as much stock as they can rather than having the hassle of packing it all away and taking it back with them. I have got some good discounts of rods and reels in the past and hope to this year again.

Prices into the show for anyone interested are as follows:

Adult = £6.00 O.A.P's = £4.00 Students = £3.00 or a Family ticket (2 adults & up to 4 children) = £12.00

i was going to head up with a friend of mine but knocked it on the head after we heard it was mainly fly fishing and a camper van expo, so other plans were made.
we will probably have a look at the show in cloughran on around 13/14 feb :wink:

Me and Fishyfingers went. But for Causeway tackle, which I got some nice little bits and pieces from, it was all in all a waste of time. Thumbs up to those stall holders that actually made the effort, but there was actually very little there compared with previous years, Very disappointing! I don't think we'll be back.

Looking forward to the International show in Farnborough, which we're off to in March!!! :mrgreen:
