sportscast ireland championship 2011

#1 Post by AG »

we hope to run the championships as follows this year to see how it goes . every second meet will be for a certain lead , starting with 175 you can record your best distance for that lead for that day to be added to the next event where the 150 gram best distance will be added etc over the 4 leads , then on the last event of the year we will cast 100 gram , then a total minus your worst result so 3 out of 4 will be your total for the year , so you can miss / drop your worst result , any thoughts ?

Sounds great....this is the same way it is run in the UK so it should run smoothly.

just to note that on the say 175 day and so on you can cast the other leads to but you must get a measure on that nominated lead for that day ,
it will just take the pressure off the usual final type day where we have to cast all the leads that day .
yes paddy the sussex club run there championships this way and seems very popular ,

Works for me as long as i can make the "recording" days. Once i have the dates for them I should hopefully be able to keep them clear.

Hey Paddy, I was planning on going to 3 or 4 SCI events this year anyway, so maybe I could make it these 4 dates. How much is membership for this year?

You like the light leads MC? 100g light enough in my eyes. I wouldn't like to cast 75 or 50. Not on a 'tournament' rod anyway!

What about a heavy(rod buster) day? lol 175, 200 and 300, followed by the 454g (16oz) on the contender!!
Which reminds me, I've footage of marty casting the 454g from the summer. Must post it up.
The rod bends that much the weight almost wacks the back of his head!

PS Not a serious suggestion by the way!

No to light line days!! Though everyone agreed on that after last years one. Have a 2 or 4 lead event instead, one north day one south day???

new scoring sounds good to me

and definately a better method of gaining results

i quite enjoyed light line day, them skinnies can certainly travel,
most lads seem not too interested though so perhaps we should act on it democratically :?

although a heavyweight day would be some craic too....

in more ways the one
only reel men cast!

Indeed you are right Murt....Lightline day....
DOWN WITH THAT SORT OF THING!!
They came,, we cast,, and sent them packin!
This year will be the year of the heavey weights! there will also be "4 lead" days and "2 lead" days, and as usuall we always welcome UCC/SCI days both down here or up there.... Aren't we heading up there very very very soon
