SAI MA comp1 courtown 8/01/11

#1 Post by keith »

People: JD, Kstaff, Gordy, Al, Eeler, Rampent, Keith, Gar, Dave C, Don Sorry if I forgot anyone.

Duration: 13:00 to 18:00

Tide: Dropping

Weather: Alright

Bait: All sorts

Rigs: Mainly flappers

Results:

The first SAI comp of the year took place on courtown North beach on Sat morning, a smaller than usuall turnout including some new faces Eeler and Gar faced a massive swell and dirty brown Sea that looked very promising. It started off fairly slow although I was lucky to get 4 fish in the fisrt hour while everyone else was struggling unfortunatley it wasn't to last as soon everyone was finding the fish mainly flounder's with a few rockling and dabs making an apperance. Rauri (Eeler) seemed to be picking up at least one flounder a cast and was filling up his card nicely while Jp not long back from a golfing holiday in south africa was picking off a few fish too. As It got dark the fishing improved for some lads but not for me to make maters worse I reeled in a trace I lost with 3 counting fish :x . Al and his mate gar where picking up some fish on the high pegs and Rauri was still flying Don had a few fish in and Dave Costello had managed a Cod of 38cm only pipped by JP's 39cm for the pools. At the end Gordy had a double flounder I had nothing and Kstaff had a double too but It was too little to late, Rauri had won in his first match with SAI and a Big welldone to him JP was second and Gar was third also his first SAI comp welldone. The highlight of the day was watching Kstaff coming to grips with a fixed spool  and the chipper on the way home.

It was a tough day fishing, especially being pegged beside Don, JP, and Gar who where all picking up fish regularly :? I had two counters and two undersize coming up to the last 40 mins and managed to pull out 5 fish with 4 x 10 minute casts towards the end..Jammy

Congrats again to the lads (even JP) especially the newcomers :D

Well done eeler and gar. Excellent results on your first day out with SAI
UP THE DEISE!!!!!!!

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

KStaff winning matches is the new black.

Well done eeler and gar!

I had 3 fish in the first 2 hours, then nothing. Had to break three times with fish on. Oh well!

Looking forward (I think!) to Cheekpoint in February :)
