Does anyone have any record of Halibut being succesfully targetted around the Irish Coast?

i heard it too that some had been landed off donegal over the last year or too. but these fish are practically extinct in our waters from over fishing. i remember one of the professional (reporter for a magazine) sea anglers from the UK saying that he fished the ocean around the UK intensely all his life - he eventually caught one halibut about 8lb.
good luck on that one. plse let me know if you get one though!!! better heading to north Norway for them
and, hope you saw the newspapers yesturday..................... !!!!!!

i remember Neil Gallagher telling me about one he had aboard his boat lionnior out near Tory island in deep water, i think it was about 10lbs or so that's the only time I've heard of one.
