Report:headed for graystones but competition on there so went to kilcoole. we started to set up our gear only to find josh had left the crossbars of his tripod on graystones beach two nights earlier.I left him to continue setting up while i went back to look for them on the off chance I could find two small bars on a large beach.luckily one of the lads in the competition had found the bottom piece,so he used that to lean the rods on.thanks lads. first cast produced a fat dab-flounder(never can tell the difference)about 1lb.caught 6 more plus some small whiting and a rockling. To top off the night we went back to graystones to look for josh,s top bar and found it near some weed.

Re: kilcoole
That was myself that had the cup section from your tripod. Glad you found the top section too, nice!
The fishing was tough on the South Beach with mostly Coalies being taken. One of the lads also had a nice sized dab too. Hopefully the codling will pop in for a visit soon

Re: kilcoole
lucky save with the tripod man
easiest way to tell if you have a dab is to rub the skin from back to front on it . if it feels rough like sand paper it's a dab. and if smoothe and slimey most likely a flounder
hope this helps for the future man
