The European Commission has identified Ireland as one of the worst countries for breaching EU fishing quotas.
In its latest report on the situation, the body said Ireland and Spain had the worst records for exceeding agreed fishing limits in 2004.

Naval Service detains Irish vessel

The Naval Service has detained an Irish registered fishing vessel on the east coast for allegedly failing to comply with a regulation to have a Vessel Monitoring System fitted.
If only they'd clamp down as hard on the poachers, fish merchants and hotels all dealing in poached bass......
