south wexford 6/11/10

#1 Post by mitch »

people me /millbrook/mick

tide dropping

bait lug/crab/mack/razor /rag

rigs flappers /pullys

result codling to 5 lb 1 bass 4 1/2 lb flounders to 42 cm
coalies and lots poor cod

arrived at mark and nice bit of surf ,so 2 rods each went out one
in the gutter and other blasted out ,first in was m/brook with a double of flounder and coalie then mick with a double coalie great start thinking to myself ,i did not have too long to wait i got a slight
knock on the rod at distance and slackliner straight away ,took a while to get slack line and when i did i knew i had a decent fish on ,it
fought all the way in and when i got it through the surf it was a codling of 5 lb :D :D

the fishing was steady all night with fish comming in on all
rods ,but m/brook played a stormer bringing in a steady stream of
good flounder 33 /35 /38 and a super fish of 42 cm 8) ,had to go over and see what he was doing that i wasn't, to get these fish.
and the answer was boobey beads :? what the ..... are they says i ,there like little rattlers, and they work and are on my shopping list

as the tide was near the bottom milly  landed a bass of
about 4 1/2 lb milly was smiling from ear to ear so i says to him give it a wash ,i am standing there waiting and he is in the surf looking at
the bass j..sus this fish is in bits ,there were lumps out of him and
cuts all over the fish  not for the pot says i so a quick
photo and back he went .all i could here from m/brook then was
...king seals should be all shot

This was our third session on this beach in the last 2 weeks
and each time we have had a decent codling and bass so
i think we will be back down soon
m/brook will stick up some photos later

Well done, some good fish there.
You made the right decision fishing there and not heading down this direction. I went to the beach in West Waterford that you were thinking of fishing (did OK, three small bass, a couple of dogs and a couple of coalfish) but it was blowing ferociously and the rain lashing down and on the lane up from the beach there was a tree partially blocking the road, I managed to move that enough to get past but about 100 m before the top of the lane there has a big tree right across the road    - my car is still there

i think it was a good call alright ,super nights fishing .things could
have being worse for you ,you could have being driving up that lane
when the tree fell  you better leave the chain saw in
the car when your going fishing especially on the back roads you do be on
