Report:
We thought we were on for a cert with the Dogs tonight, however they didn't play ball... Instead though, we had what I'd describe as our best session so far on Glenarm beach, the sheer numbers of fish was just staggering. We only had around 20 rag between us, the rest of our baits were fish baits, but it didn't seem to matter as the fish were pure suicidal for everything!
Arrived and were set up for 5pm, and as there was still a lot of light in the sky we didn't expect all that much til dusk, We did managed a few flounders in this time, but as soon as it got dark the fishing really turned on, Big style.
Fishing close provided us with a great mix of species throughout the night, Plenty of Small Coalfish and Whiting, interspersed with a smattering of 20 to 35cm Flounder, a couple of Shories and a lone pouting.
The rods out at distance, which were really meant for Doggies, stood idle for much of the night, But I did have a nice double shot of Pollack at range along with a couple of Kamakazee whiting...
the inside rods didn't stop all night, with double and triple shots of Coalfish, Whiting and Flounder pulling the tips round savagely. I did notice toward the end, if you edge your baits across the sand slowly you seem to be able to enduce more takes from the flounders, which was great fun towards the end, as I had 4 in 4 Casts, best being 35cm and putting up a nice wee scrap.
