I have brought my own boat to youghal on occasion, mostly mid summer. Have had some good mackeral fishing around the mouth of the bay and gone out to cable island for pollock. Tried some bottom fishing on the drift, again across the mouth and got some gurnard.
Could you recommend any marks worth trying? Should I go in or out the bay for the cod?
Any time saving tips appreciated! Thanks.

I never fish at the mouth of the bay,I had a few mates that did last week who caught Cod on lug and crab but done better on the lug, then started to drift close to the ferry point and found the cod started to get bigger...
If I was aiming for bottom feeding on the drift I would head for the big reef past the island, only fished this with charter boats and always get a good mixed bag and very big pollock

Thanks Cluais - much appreciated. I'll prob fish ferry point from the shore this week. I hear the front strand is also fishing well.
Let me know if your interested in a days fishing in the boat (it's a 17' lee fisherman) - should be no bother. That said, it'll be next spring soonest. Pheasant season starts next monday - that will be my sat/sun for the next 3 months! Will continue to shore fish during the week ok. Sin e - thanks again.
