It will probably be a mixture of these beaches, a zone on each depending on the conditions Roney/Donamore, Kilgorman, courtown with maybe Toberpatrick.samo wrote:Any one any ideas on what beaches are going to be fished?

Yes this competition went very well and the weather god's were on our side, Kilgorman was like a beach from the mediterranean flat clam mirror sea.kstaff wrote:I believe congrats are in order to Dave Roe on winning yesterday, big weldone.

We had 91 entries and the good attendance was justified by the hard work that goes into this competition every year and the exellent prize table.
Zone A winner: John O Brien 9 fish
Zone B winner David Roe 17 fish
Zone C winner Ritchie Gormanly 14 fish
The overall winner was David roe with 17 fish, well done with a magicial performance which I witnessed first hand. David and Ritchie also won the pairs event hands down.
Well done to Dave Roe that's now 5 Open victories in a row ! Think he's gone over the 60 mark now in Open wins.
The Seiko was the Leinster closed gold which puts him on the Home International Team next year ...Such a pity he wont fish for Ireland as the IFSA system for selecting teams is still in the stone age ! Hopefully the motions he has submitted for a long overdue change at this years national AGM will be passed and we can bring Ireland in line with the rest of the World.
With enough support we can look forward to a VERY bright future on the International stage.

Well said Paul. A very big congratulations to Dave Roe, yet another fantastic performance and result. He is one of the finest anglers we have had in this country in a long time (as far as I am concerned) and he deserves all the success he is getting.

Re: Seiko
Well done on the win, good turnout! Congratulations on winning the Leinster closed gold shore Dave, its a shame not to fish on the ireland team though especially when we are hosting it next year, everyone cries out for strong teams, and when some of the top anglers in the country qualify they shun the thing, whether you agree with the selection system or not, it is there in place and will continue unless it is changed, it should be an honour for any angler to qualify for such a team, especially when you dont really have to go into your own pocket to travel etc. not taking up the opportunity i simply dont understand. (not having a pop at you personally dave, many anglers have not taken their place on an Ireland Home nations team over the years for varying opinions on things, just my general opinion on it)
with the guys who have so far qualified for the team, it was looking pretty damn good....
On another note, just out of interest, why are the entry fees for competitions in other provinces higher than here in Ulster? Is it just to give bigger cash prizes? Here it is genearlly £13-14.

Re: Seiko
I think this is Dave's fourth time to qualify for the Home nation team and he has not fished one yet. You are right Phil it is a shame that he is not representing Ireland he is a very strong angler to have in your team and he should be there every year representing Ireland. But unless the system changes he'll not bother. And as you have said a lot of the top anglers feel the same way I think it's important that the system is changed to allow these anglers rightfully represent out Nation.
It's up to the anglers to change this and they should go to the National A.G.M. the 6th of November at the Ashling Hotel, Parkgate street Dublin. at 10.30 and vote on the motions that are being proposed.

Re: Seiko
Yes! I done a poll some time back and it seem that anglers would prefer to have lower entry fees and less of a pay out. I think it is up to the individual clubs to lower the cost of entries and it's something clubs should look at for next year. I know the wexford beach championships have lowered their prices and included a super-pool which is optional. so maybe this is the way to go it gives the best of both worlds.BigPhil wrote:On another note, just out of interest, why are the entry fees for competitions in other provinces higher than here in Ulster?
