north connemara co galway 9th oct 2010

#1 Post by gfkelly1969 »

People:myself

Duration:15:30 to 21:30

Tide:high 18:51 5.4m

Weather:gales and heavy showers

Bait:feathers,mackerel,squid,sandeel

Rigs:feathers,2 hook flapper,conger trace

Results:5 dogfish,1 pollack

Report:headed for a ray mark first which was fairly sheltered, bites were very slow, had 3 dogs there before i decided to move to a beach to try for some flounder

when I arrived at the beach I was afraid to get out of the car because the wind was so strong and blowing out to sea so I headed for a pier that is a bit sheltered

I set up on the pier and had a pollack and another dogfish fairly quick, the wind was getting stronger so I packed up shortly after

Well done Gerry, the fish just keep coming for you. It's good to see because you certainly put the time and effort in. It's easy to see that you love your fishing :D Hopefully there are a few rays still about and you get a chance to go out and try for one before they clear off completely 8)

Lucky you Gerry! I would love to be able to say that, I love them and would never get sick of catching them. I must get down for a ray session with you sometime, I'd say you know a fair few good marks around the Galway coastline for them 8)
