Well done to Alan Mulcahy on the win, And well done to Alby for making the fish offs. Courtown SAA fairplay for top notch organisation and the stewards were all brilliant. I learned more in them 2 days than the last 2 years

I was sorry to hear about the mix up with the results, its not really fare on anyone when an error like this is made.

why didnt courtown get the weather of the last two days for the weekend         .

one think i noticed on fri night at the draw and at the munster agm a few weeks back is the lack of uniform of the ifsa lads and munster council members at an offical event and made more noticable each time by one person wearing it,to me it shows lack of interested and takes from these events.

as i read through the posts a common theme emerged one of discontent with the anglers towards the ifsa which in my opinon is not unfounded people have viewed their opinions on the whole issue of these guys not been upto date with the current shore scene which i believe is a major issue the lack of commitment from the provincal councils to properly represent their anglers at central council is another issue also i too noticed the lack of uniform at provincal leevel and at the weekend this goes on to prove there is a lack of commitment to the anglers. there is a ifsa agm approaching and i hope that the anglers will voice their disapproval of the way the federation is been run at the moment thing need to happen its a time for change the provinces are bleeding anglers.clubs are dying a death the match scene is dying a death bring back the prestige to the major events on another matter congratulations to courtown angling on the best run mastersi have attended a superb effort from the stewards and all the organisers at club level

I don't know who Zziplex is but how can he comment on all the Provinces and also on all
IFSA Council.

I have been involved in Sea Angling for a long time (mainly shore) and have had the priviledge
of serving on the World team and Home Nations team. I was really proud to wear the Green Blazer.

Maybe we need some changes , but let's discuss them in November and not be slagging one another on this Site.

my name is paudie odriscoll and i think that what i just posted is justified there is alot of discontent amongst anglers at the minute my views are totally towards the way the federation is run and not in any way towards those who represent their country

well done to all that fished the 3 sessions.

Personally though, i would have a major issue with people qualifying for the event from their club and then not having the decency to fish the 3 legs. Just because you dont feel that you have a chance at winning does not mean that you can opt out of representing your club at these events. If you think your not going to finish the 3 legs then dont bother going and allow someone that will fish to attend in your place.

just my opinion

Full of dead wood. Full of non anglers. Full of division. I've seen enough this year that had me questioning why I and others bother. I'm not alone in this view. Behaviour of a small few pretty much wrecks it for all. (none of that directed at either Paul or Donal I might add). Its not fair on either the bread and butter match anglers or the elite. Time for change but who will step up indeed?

Massive well done to Alan, Im gutted for you both that things prevailed as they did. Hard lines Joe, keep the chin up, a silver medal in a Master Angler is a damn fine achievement in its own right.

Cheers Pete,

What do you and others think of this

That the 1st three places in the Masters automatically go on the team.

What point is there in presenting Silver and Bronze Medals , make them worth something.

Your opinions please :?:

We currently have a crop of top class match anglers who are more than capable of competing with, and beating, the very best on the U.k circuit, added to this is a talanted crop of young guns coming through, however lets be honest ,there are some fundamental problems with the current match scene ,as evidenced by falling numbers attending open events, and by the underlying discontent of some of the post on this site, its time for a real debate to try and address the problems ,while building on the positives.while I'm at it ,does any body have an opinion regarding an angler joining up to 4 clubs in a desperate attempt to ensure qualification for the masters, resulting in no shows at club matches ,letting down team members and doubles partners, and generally acting the 3ollix ,with an "I'm entitled " attitude,

Would like to say how badly I feel for this to happen to Joe in his home town, a true gent and the last person any of us would like to see this befall on.

Also huge congratulations to Mullington, Top angler and top man.

Sean.

Wouldnt agree with that Paul,

I reckon the fish offs is the way to go, the pool gets stronger every year as some of the weaker lads are weeded out and the stronger lads that do happen to fall out will get back in.

i agree with petekd its time to get rid of some of the dead wood and none anglers from the top,and get some younger guys in now who know the modern angling scene well.for to long the central council has been blindley leading the modern angler without proper direction .it is eccentail we get younger well informed anglers into all provincial councils and central council and go forward in the same direction as one.this may not be easy but it must be the way forward for all anglers in the island of ireland and a sure progression for the ordinary angler to the cream of the crop.we may well get some of the top anglers back who at present dont want to fish for ireland.

Have any of the top anglers or you lads criticising the Central Council put yourselves forward for positions on the CC at the next AGM in November?

I'm not taking sides but if nobody goes forward then how can there be change?

agree with erich - start putting yourselves forward for positions - stop talking about improving things - do it!

most of it is boring, time comsuming work that you get damn all thanks for and then slaughtered if there is the smallest mistake

personally i would not get enough votes and unfortunately, i am not experinced enough to do the job required but i am 100% sure there are anglers out there in every province who are if only they would put there names forward, young blood would bring a fresh approch and new energy to the task.i know its a thankless job but i feel a new approch is needed in all forms of sea angling in ireland to advance in the way we want to as a body.

i dont agree with the top 3 going on the team ,i think the fish offs is a good way hopefully to get the best anglers out of the pool.i really think the problems are with the managers are not suitable and thats the end needs the most work.
as for the younger people ,some one has to stand first before any changes are made.there would prob better to have a mix of older lads and younger in there rather then just one or the other.

i think while there is alot of non anglers on both provincial and central councils this is not the problem per say. the problem is the disconnect between anglers and anglers' viewpoints and the 'heirarchy' and how they go about things.

in fairness organisation representation and all the other work the councils do is both an arduous and oftentimes thankless task one which most match anglers be they grass roots or top notch eleite couldn't find the time or inclination to get involved in.

these council members are however our elected representatives and we have every right to voice our opinions or complaints as the case may be. the frustration evident here i believe is more down to the fact that most (certainley not all) of them seem to be involved for their own personal gain or to fuel the many political battles and power struggles going on between various factions within the councils.

alot of anglers also feel frustrated at not being listened to and not having a forum to voice their opinions or views within the ifsa. i say let the 'suits' have their positions if thats what they want but they must take heed that anglers found the basis of the federation and the less anglers the weaker the federation is.
