Re: Strangford Lough in B&W
Still learning
but really love it.
As for lenses. My wish list would have to include a 10-20, 50mm prime and a good zoom lens. Just incase you ever get the 6 numbers up Davy.

Were are you getting your prints done ?

Nice pics Dave, I think i'll have to invest in a DSLR myself, I have a nice Canon digital camera, great camera and can do nearly the same as a DSLR but your restricted by the lense and I dont think you can replicate the DOF you get with an SLR, I also use a film SLR but DSLR's are just so much handier

Buying a DSLR was the best thing i ever bought

2 years ago i decided it was time to make the most of it and actually went out to take photos that were nothing to do with fish

I upgraded just before i started Tech and i really got the use out of it.Its a fantastic hobby and i just wish i`d been at it longer than 2 years

You can get a great compact camera that has 15 mp but a DSLR with 6 mp will still produce far better images. If its used right

As you said the DOF with DSLR`s and SLR`s make a huge difference. Most compacts have a very limited or no aperture range but with a DSLR its huge, averaging F4-F25 (depending on the lens)
Do you develop your own film???

Your right there, it is a fantastic hobby!

I used to develop my own film, I did photography as part of my media course in college and we had a dark room there which was good! I haven't developed my own film in years though which is a pity, It's something i'd like to start doing again but haven't really had the time unfortunately

But I definately think I'll have to start putting the sheckles away for a proper Dslr

Re: Strangford Lough in B&W
I developed my own B&W film in tech which i really enjoyed, but it was very time consuming
DSLR`s are the way forward
team one up with few filters and the photos can be stunning, when used correctly
and without any photoshopping

I hear HDR can become addictive

I`ve never tried it myself but always mean to,tho i dont have good software for it anyway....
I`d love to get my hands on some nice ND Lee filters but i`d need to win the lotto first
