Damaged cars in Laytown

Fished laytown yesterday evening on returning to the cars noticed electric windows were not working thought fuse sort it tomorrow. Got home central locking not working rang a guy in ford he knew what it was straight away.Some scumbag tried to break in to the car by sticking a hacksaw blade in the gap of the door where the hinges are and cut the wiring loom.
This seems to be the new trend for robbing cars so be warned if you are parking your car in Laytown pitch and putt carpark.A lot of damage done,expensive fishing trip

Same Trick used on the ford transits hacksaw blade to cut the main wire loom and all doors open. Ford now do a bracket that you bolt on the frame that covers the loom i fitted one on my van took 5mins and cost 24 quid. what i dont understand is why thy dont fit them on when they are being made. Have heard story of builders going to work in their transit van open the back door wow no tools everything gone

6 of us fishing we caught a few flounders silver lads did not turn up.
North of laytown last week had bass to 4 pound still wont be tempted to go that direction again.
Talking to garda in laytown today dozens of cars damaged down as far down as Gormanstown.
So next time fishing leave the wife or big dog in the car

took the boat out today at mornington from 11am -5pm. cameback in to find the back window smashed in and the loom cut on the driver side .what a pain. your lucky you fell asleep ruairi and missed the trip. on the plus side had 4 seatrout ,all released and 1 mack which i kept for bait. hope they catch the little swines

This was reported back early in the summer. I think everybody should give the area a wide birth for now. Leaving your car for a couple of hours is a very easy target. Scum bags.

Yea it happened to my wife's car and both my sister and brother in law's car's at laytown the Gaurds said they had done a load of cars from gormanstown to mornington, Also the Garda station in Laytown only opens certain hour's so they have to come from Navan all the cars I know of have been done during this time.

It's not just the coast. I buried my brother a few months ago in Ashbourne. I went up for his months anniversary mass and while we were in visiting the grave our car was done. I have found out since that there were a load of cars hit around the area over a few months including about a dozen cars in a church carpark during a wedding.

That carpark in laytown is an open ticket for theives. I was playing pitch and putt there last year in their open and came back to find my car had been opened and stereo etc missing. I still dont know how they opened it without the alarm going off, the alarm is also supposed to send a signal to my keyring. They drilled a small hole under the handle. Maybe some cctv would work.

Though the damage done to cars in these areas can be very stressful and expensive the talk of taking things into your own hands to deal with this issue would be best keep off this site.

its not their fault they prob come from a broken family or deprived area and just need some help in their lives maybe a note on your windsreen offering to bring them fishing could point them away from such activites or a game of scrabble and a dictionary could keep them occupied lets face it they prob cant even spell,bless em
