Boom Types

#1 Post by George »

Does it matter much , the type of boom you use while boat fishing? I usually use the zip slider booms. Would it be worth paying more for the eddystone booms for example?

Over time I have tried both long and short booms. I find the maxi knotless weight boom to be the most handy and, in my experience, fishes just as well as any other types. The main thing is to keep varying lengths of trace in the rig pouch and always exercise care when lowering the trace/ boom/ bait combination so as to prevent tangles. Now -- longer booms and uptiding can be a different matter. It is my practice, however, to use a paternoster rig when uptiding.Peter
