Hi all,
New to all of this, but when is the spinning season over? I understand Bass cannot be fished between May and June. Does it mean I can fish for bass in Winter with lures? Are anyother species protected?
Cheers,
Mark

are you based in the south then you chances of lure fishing can continue some time from now - as for the rest of the country the lure fishing eases off with the cooling of the water over the next few months

Sea trout are the only other salt water species protected - you'll often come across them in the same spots where the bass hang out. Check your local fisheries board office for exact regulations in your area, but they're off limits between October and February.
If you are down south, I've seen big bass taken on lures around Christmas in Waterford, so keep trying
