Hi all,

Accommodation Update - The Helm itself is fully booked but Vinny in the Helm is taking names on 098-26194 for b+bs/appartments located near the Helm/Quay area of Westport. Just mention the fishing competition and he will sort you out.

well if your in louisburg continue through the town on the R335 going south away from westport

as you drive you will be parallel to the sea - we will have a sign post for the fishing comp turning right for killeen and again another sign on the local road leading you to the beach itself

if your coming from the leenane side - go round killary harbour and go north on the R335 and again you will see the fishing comp signs to turn left for killeen and on to the beach again

Well done to Chris Feeney of Galway Bay SAC, who won the gold medal with 325 points, I think he had 14 counting fish. Mike Curtin of GBSAC was 2nd with 314 points, including a 45cm flounder. Kaylem Feeney won the juniors, and Chris and Kaylem walked away with the team event. Mike won the longest flat, and Adam O'Neill had the longest round with a 34cm bass, one of 4 he caught. The session in the Helm was a bit short, as it was after 11 by the time we got back and got fed.

This was a very well run comp! It was good to meet all the fellas and the session in the Helm after was as good as the fishing!! Well done to Chris for taking first place. Will definately be making more trips down south to fish especially after Warren getting his first ever Huss on the Sunday which weighed in at 11 and a half pound!!
