People: Dan, Kyle, Me

Duration: 6.45pm - 10pm

Tide: Pushing, Lovely!

Weather: Lashing, then gorgeous!

Bait: Dans freshly dug lug, Peeler, and Mack

Rigs: Loops and 2 up 1 downs

Results: Coalfish, Pollack, Whiting, Pouting, Poor Cod, SS Sea Scorpion, Ballan Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, Haddock, Shore Rockling!

Report:

Ever have one of those nights that you know is gonna turn out great? Well this wasn't one of them! I got home from work at 4pm and made plans to go fishing with Dan. Got the gear together and was just loading the car up when the rain started. I had a "Stuff it" moment and decided I wasn't for letting a bit of the wet stuff put me off. So it was off to the Dee!

Dan and Kyle fished over the back wall, while I took the traditional approach and fished in the middle. As soon as baits touched bottom we were plagued by hordes of Coalies and Pouting. It was indeed a hectic 3 hours with the roads hardly stopping.

Dan fished into the rough most of the night, getting a Sea Scorpion, Haddock and managed a beautiful female Cuckoo Wrasse. His first for the year and a great bit of variety fishing on Donaghadee.

Fishing continued most of the night with savage bites from a couple of Ballan wrasse at the far side of the harbour. Not big, but great fun on a match rod!

A real gem of a night

Well done on a great session lads :D . It would seem that the Dee is fishing well at the minute!
2011 species (2) - Three Bearded Rockling, Coalfish

2010 species (8) - Coalfish, Codling, Shore Rockling, Pollack, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Poor Cod, Whiting, Pouting

2009 species (10) - Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Pouting, Coalfish, Long Spined Sea Scorpion, Shore Rockling, Codling, Haddock, Shanny, Whiting, Flounder

Welldone on the cuckoo wrasse dont see all that many caught from the shore.

seems to be plenty of cuckoo wrasse around the dee at the minute. Drew ya forgot the pipefish too. lol

nice busy night i,ve never got a female cuckoo wrasse even out in the boat ,at least i know what they look like now :mrgreen:

thats good going,i was down there a couple of tuesdays ago,one of the best days of the summer (weather-wise)...could see to the bottom..and out for probablly 60 metres...could see every bit of week,stones..whatever...except fish.

3 hrs around the best of the tide and not a bite...so again,good going!

Seems to be really good some days and qhite poor others, but we normally pick up something.
