No wonder it has been when you have the likes of these two idiots going down filling shopping bags with them!!! Sorry to hear that its your doorstep that is getting hammered but its all fact im afraid.inchbassfan wrote:Hi
I was looking up bait ties and came across your post, I walk that beach most days and fish it once a week(3 minutes from home). I would be surprised if they sold the fish between Inch an Keel. But anyway, for what it is worth, I will try to keep an eye out for this.
That spot is not really a secret even some online guides mention it. However fishing there this year has been poor enough in comparison to others spots I was thinking. Two 9lbs Bass is not to be sniffed at though.

12 boxes!!! Im in Cork so I wouldnt be sure about Wexford but im sure Mitch or JimH or one of the other lads up that way will have a number for you. Search for their names and send them a PM. Those two need to be reported to fisheries, social welfare, gardai etc. How do you know they go out at night and how many boxes they had, if you can get information like that can you find out when they might be going out again, who the Bass are being sold to, where the nets are going etc. The more information you can give the FB and the Gardai, the better the chances are of catching them proper and getting a decent conviction out of it and not a slap on the wrist!!!does anyone know who I would contact about illegal netting in the wexford area, 2 lads go out at night and net for Bass, 12 boxes they had last saturday morning, they don't give a dam either. I'm sick of it, they are making thousands from their trips, I think I'll let social welfare know too

i wouldnt agree with that. the french and japanese are renowned and well respected all over the world for their lure fishing. anyone that has a half decent lure set up will know that.corney wrote:Must agree with Aurelien

theres a difference between seeing a guy catching a load of bass and respecting our laws and seeing someone with a bag of under sized fish or 2 lads with 9 bass in a bag walking off a beach. the irish can be as bad as anyone. nationality shouldnt come into it but when you see non irish people bagging up on tiny fish over and over again it can make the stomach churn. fair enough, their not usually french. just in this case the offenders were. and they got away with it.
ive only met a handfull of french anglers when ive been out and they all seem like fairly nice people. as long as their not related to mr. henry ive no problems with them

Hi,
First thing first: Some of the replies on this thread are pure racism and shouldn't have been tolerated by the moderators.
Now I do understand why people are so drunk off. But explain how different are the following cases:
- French guy taking 9 Bass and selling them
- Eastern Europeans taking a lot of Pike to eat
- Eastern Europeans taking a lot of small sea fish to eat
versus
- Illegal netting that goes on from Irish boats.
- Irish lads poaching for Salmon and selling them through the back door of the restaurant. Yes, this still happens all the time. I've reported 3 more incidents of this to the guards this year.
- Finally, what about all the mackerel "bashers"? A lot of them are Irish, aren't they? The rubbish that's left behind. I spent 40 minutes last Sunday picking a whole bag of rubbish. Plus how many fish do they kill. Yes it's only mackerel, but who needs to kill 50+ fish. Of course it's OK if it's for bait. Is it really? And people wonder why they can't catch mackerel anymore...
Look we are all as bad as each other. I'm French as well, I've been living here for 10+ years and I've been fishing lakes, rivers and sea all this time. We need to be acting on this together. People need to stop moaning on a public forum. Regarding that French idiot, I would say it's not too late to contact the guards and fishery boards to report this incident. This is the only way we can get attention, if every angler was to report every single illegal act, I'm sure the authorities will get annoyed and start to act.
That's just my 2 cents...

Re: French anglers catch and kill 9 Bass off of Inch last week
you cant compare any of those incidents to mackbashers
and in any of my posts about the taken of juveille fish i never mentioned where they were from. i only said" foreign"anglers.mackeral are all adult fish when they reach our shores iv yet to catch a three inch one.i think its time for a law to be introduced that all fish be governed by a 12 inch law before you can keep it for the pot.this has always been an unwritten law past from father to son/daughter.even before the laws on bass was introduced we always put bass under 14 inchs back.this was again all just the norm.when you see large groups of men in a harbour filling a bag with tiny fish it makes you angry as this is against all you have been taught and been brought up to believe in.i was brought to howth as a child i can still remember my first fish it was a pollock about a pound in weight the harbour walls were full of them as was dunlaire, alas not anymore cant remember the last time i seen a pollock of any size caught against the walls of the harbour and if the trend continues there wont be any fish left in these nurseries at all. when all the babies are taken how can a species survive? in that area the harbours will be left like the lakes and the canals empty

Re: French anglers catch and kill 9 Bass off of Inch last week
The killing of fish and making big publicity about the nationality of people is 2 things completely different.
What is the more important? The fact that these guys are not native, got blue eyes, red hair, make less tham 1m60 or what they have done?
Because at the end if you read all the articles on this subject in magazines and forum, the fact that these people are foreigners makes more noise than what they have done.
At the end a lot of people have forgoten what they have done , but they just remember that they were from abroad ...
I fish a lot at sea, lakes, rivers and canals. I have seen a lot of weird things done by anglers (complete ignorance regarding fish welfare by C&R enthusiast, trolling when it's prohibited, dead baiting where its not allowed, the slaughter of 15 flounders, garbage left ect). I have seen only 2 times FB officers. I have never seen any volunteer water keeper ...

It doesn't matter where these guys originate from or what colour of skin they have or what size they are, it is the devious actions of these scumbags which are critisised here, so do not make the mistake of going down the racist route here my dear french angling enthusiast, this over exaggerated political correctness thingy makes me sick to the bones!
And why on gods earth should these criminals, YES CRIMINALS! - be allowed to get away with it? If they are not happy to comply with rules and regulations here or just common courtesy, well, they are free to go back wherever they came from, it's there choice!
Just don't give me that racist boulderdash, that's not the issue here, they know exactly what they are doing! The issue is poaching, netting, littering, the taking of undersized fish, whatever - and they do it because nobody cares or doesn't have the courage to stop them!
They will continue to take everything alive under the planet for the sole reason of pure greed and because they can - and they most certainly will continue to do so until there are repercussions.
Come on lads, get real and help stopping these thugs in reporting them to the relevant authorities and in gathering enough evidence to prosecute them.
THIS should be our aim in the first place and not blaming green blue or gold.
Sorry about the rant, but my gall bladder is getting full at this stage

Im sorry but I dont tip toe around people's nationalities, I tell it as I see it. If you dont like that well tough because this is my country and I have the right , while im not breaking laws, to highlight the nationality of whoever I please if they are breaking the law!!! Be they French, Spanish, Polish, Lithuanian, or any of the other country's who's citizens are living in Ireland or coming to Ireland and taking advantage of Irish people's hospitality and stealing from my country!!!. I know there is scum in every nation on earth BUT I dont have any convictions for fishing, I dont go to other country's and be a greedy pig, I dont use information given to me in confidence for my own selfish purposes - Im not like that, im not in the scum category - so I can point my finger all I damn well please!!!!!! If you dont like it please feel free to exercise the same rights you used to come to this country and leave. Im not Racist, but im not scared to point my finger either!!! If you respect me and my home ill show you the courtesy of doing the same when I visit your country. Re: French anglers catch and kill 9 Bass off of Inch last week

'This idea of being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity - and as being our own people, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.
This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society learn the language!
We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.
This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our way of life, I can only highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great freedom rights, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE! If you aren't happy here then LEAVE! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted!'

considering I'm from Austria
well, this was my parents fault
and I'm here since the late 80ths, all my kids are born here but I'm probably more Irish at heart than the Irish themselves

Re: French anglers catch and kill 9 Bass off of Inch last week
First of all, you may have misunderstood my post. I haven't said that you were racist ... I was just giving my opinion, which I think I can, on the fact that most of the posts on forums, article in some magazines are making more publicity around the nationalities of the offenders (Irish included) than what they have done. And this may lead to racism ...MikeQ wrote:Im sorry but I dont tip toe around people's nationalities, I tell it as I see it. And I don't see why people like me who are living in Ireland for a long time, may, one day be assimilate with these people. Because unfortunately in some minds that's what is happening.
So don't take my post against you, because it is really not. I'm 100% on your side when you are pointing the right subject: the offense itself and what can be done to prosecute them ...
@ "the Austrian" ... If it was for me, no worries, I'm happy here. I'm lucky to have a job, my girlfriend is Irish, 99% of my friends are Irish and I love Ireland (think that's why I'm here) ... I was just giving an opinion (no laws broken) on an Angling forum ... Now if people can't disagree without being suggested to leave ...

Should be a doddle for the Fisheries Board to catch these two? I was talking to a guy last week said there was a fella in a Kayak that gave him a 3lb Bass. I asked him did he catch many and he said "Ah yeah he had about 7" ?? Total greed!!!mitch wrote:well said mike and austrian

Re: French anglers catch and kill 9 Bass off of Inch last week
I have seen this happening up in the north too, fishing in red bay for starters guys filling bags with small juvenile fish, I for one do not sit back and just watch, a simple word and say that they are out of line and either they leave or they stop killing every fish that it caught. But for actually breaking the law I would have no problem reporting this activity, or shouting over to them that they will be reported. Getting all information needed to bring the offenders to the authorities, guys there is no need for the vigilantly attitude there will be no winners there! With having the attitude it’s too late to report them well that’s just as shameful as the cull itself.

I,ve seen these guys fishing mitch between Roney and pollshone,In a 2 man Kayak ,1 guy got dropped off onto a small island ,where he fished and where he was witnessed plugging for BASS and catching plenty with none C and Rmitch wrote:well said mike and austrian

the other guy was also witnessed landing Bass with no C and R .Dont know what nationality they were ,But its not the point its illegal and to do this in broad daylight

Just another point ,Aurelian made a couple of posts earlier in where he was misunderstood,as i for sure know he is a true and passionate conservationist when it comes to Angling,Wether its coarse ,pike or sea fishing,I know he has caught alot of Bass in Dublin and surrounding areas with the majority caught and released.I think what he was trying to say is yes im a french angler but didnt want to be portrayed or perceived to be as ruthless heartless or mindless as the french person in the 1st post.
This kind of illegal activty is happening on almost every shoremark where bass can be caught around ireland im sure.
No offense to geniune Kayak fishermen,But it seems that more and more people are investing in kayaks as a more productive and an inexpensive way to get to certain Bass hotspots that would be unaccessible to the ordinary guy on foot.Ive never seen so many people fishing in kayaks in my life this summer. It seems to be the craze of the moment.
