wexford.. a complete disaster...

#1 Post by sea serpant »

After having a successfull and very enjoyable last two weeks smoothie fishing i decided to give it one more go on the beach that had produced so well for me lately... Well what can i say it was an absolute disaster as it lashed rain from start to end and i could barely hold a bait down without huge chunks of weed pulling it a mile down the beach :x i no there are good and bad times fishing and i think this was one of them times that happened to make me appreciate the good nights  five hours pulling weed off my traces and hiding from the lashing rain then a nice long drive back to dublin from wexford.. wat more could you ask for  p.s i did land one cod over the 3lb mark which was a minor comfort as i packed up... ah well it wont stop me hitting the beaches next week again with the same enthusiasm as ever

i know the feeling ,its a long drive when you dont enjoy your trip ,weed can be a nightmare down on some of those marks ,you should try to find a local lad you could ring beforehand who could tell you if its worth the trip ,its a long haul, went down one sat fished an hour and headed straight home, only to find out the wicklow beaches where stuffed with fish that night and not a string of weed in sight

A cod over the 3 lb mark would be a major comfort to me  . I always try to get out again as soon as possible after one of those nightmare trips. As for local knowledge,,,i've got Fishface  ,he told me once it was fine in Kilgorman so I went all the way down only to find him getting sand blasted by the gale force winds and being dragged down the beach by weed so we opted for my original plan of the shelter of Arklow

Could have been worse! You only drove drom Dublin! Headed down that way after a drive to Dublin with herself (from Galway!!) last Thursday to have an MRI scan on her back, only to end up in fishing in Co. Wexford for 1 night (well, that was the plan anyways!). Didn't get back to Galway until the following Monday. Ok, so the fishing wasn't that good, but the sessions in between were mighty (saltydog can vouch for those!).

I didn't come away with a 3lb cod, but I came away with 99lb hangover! I'd have been happy with a 3lb Cod

Moral of the story is... (still trying to figure that one out, but I'm sure someone will help!!)
