Ferrypoint

#1 Post by m.b3 »

People:myself and Seaneibo

Duration:4hours

Tide:?! fished low up, low at about 2

Weather:lovely for a change!

Bait:fresh/ frozen crab, mussel, squid and sandeel

Rigs:1 and 2 hook cliped downs, pulleys

Results:lots of small codling almost every chuck. Seaniebo had 3 keepers of 2 to 2 1/2lb.

Report:codling had lots of small hardbacks in their gobs, mini cuttlefish too. we were hoping for decent flounder but no joy?! our attentions turned to cod as the flounder weren't really interested. Seaneibo had a treble of codling on a 2 hook! one of 2lb and a second of 2 1/2. that made the day. few others fishin and takin fish on frozen lug.

crab worked best along with mussel. sandeel fruitless.

we scimped on crab to begin with and ended up trying to use it up at the end???! know next time...

Sounds like a good day! I fished Ferrypoint extensively between Xmas & the New Year, catching more than a few Codling & Coalies each session. My primary baits were sandeel (effective) & whole squid (which generally caught at least one / two fish per hour).

I do not see sight of sound of any Flounder at all which was my only disappointment. Maybe there gone!

a flounder was taken from the abbey a few days before which is further upstream. was a little dissapionting considering the fresh crab we had.
