Sligo ray and flatty sessions
Made off a rock mark on Friday evening which I've been meaning to try for ages. The nearby beach usually throws up a few painted ray and with the extra depth and good run of water I had high expectations. Picked up a few fresh mackeral for bait along with a few pollack and small coleys and settled down to the bottom fishing.
First few casts over high water gave a few dabs which I wasnt expecting and they were stripping the baits pretty quickly. Eventually connected with a painted ray of about 7 pounds followed by a few dogs before walking onto the beach for a try there, There was virtually no surf running and things were very quiet with just a few flounder dogs and a dab in the first few hours. Picked up a ray flounder double around an hour before low followed by a second ray next cast both around 7 lb before calling it a night.
Following day tried another surf beach. Again the surf was almost non-existent. The fish showed up in patches with a few trebles of flounder and turbot along with a few weavers, which I've never had on this beach before.
A late night/early morning session a few weeks back threw up a few shoolies to about a pound and a half along with plenty of flats. As dawn broke I headed to a rock mark to stock up on mackeral. There were plenty about having stocked up I tried a few casts on the bottom. There were plenty of wrasse about, ballan, corkwing and a cuckoo which I got first cast along with a conger. A few codling to about 1.5 pounds and some pollack to about 5 lbs showed up also and it was pretty much a fish or two every cast with sometimes a take even before the rod went in the rod rest.
Sorry about the photos.all taken on the mobile

Not bad for a beginner i suppose
UP THE DEISE!!!!!!!
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
KStaff winning matches is the new black.
