Hi lads as i walked my local beach this evening at around 22.00pm i found loads of these little whitebaits washed up on the shore mad alive so i picked up 40-50 of them and brought them home and put them in da freezer.i hope thats ok to do.can any1 tell me are they good bait and what species can u hope to get on them

there must have been something chaseing them in ide say pal that spot would be a good spot to be fishing in the next day or too ide try it
if ya cant fish in heaven i dont wanna go!!!!!!!!!

ya they reckon the mackerel do chase them

Mackerel chasing them up the beach I'd say pity you missed seeing it happen it's a great site. They are great on a float for macs and pollack.

ha brian.. they look like herring to me... lovely with some fresh brown bread.....great pike bait if your into pike....

Yes, whitebait is another term for small herring. They wouldn't make much of a pikebait though, considering they are usually only 1-2 inches long.

they are the main bait that i use for seatrout, they are lethal.
as ole rab c said " see me' see the sea' i love the sea me"

great fished under the float for pollock and coalies brian. and my mate who is a pike angler reckons they are deadly for pike fished the same way along the edge of a reed bed :wink:
