Duration: A week's family holiday

Tide: Fished mainly flooding tides

Weather: Fresh to moderate westerly breezes all week, overcast with occassional showers - some heavey, Mild.

Bait: Freshly dug lug, various lures.

Rigs: 2 hook paternoster, Pennel pulley.

Results:Pollock, wrasse and flounder.




Report: We fished a couple of different marks at Banna and the surrounding areas. We fished mainly on Banna strand itself. There was a good surf running all the time but it only yielded flounder. We fished a number of different lures at blackrock but had no joy. We did see bass being caught at this mark on one of the nights though, on lures too. We had some decent wrasse on lures near Kerry head, we had pollock too - although a surprisingly low number of pollock if you ask me! All in all it was patchy enough, especially considering we were fishing in Kerry. Mind you we were fishing in between big tides so I'm almost sure this would have effected the quality of the fishing.

you did well getting out so much on a family holiday banna is a lovely strand but quite large i,d say local knowlege could help on such a big area its amazing how one spot on a beach can hold great fish and the rest can be barren some folks think all you have to do is turn up to catch fish in kerry ,if only it was so easy

hmmm, 15 to 20 years ago any mark wouldve produced good fishing, seems to have got harder and harder since then, we always had good fishing in the shannon, tralee bay and brandon area, i think the sell out of 'the irish box' put paid to that.
