Thanks for replies lads, was thinking too good to be true. Its a shame though because would have been handy to have in the car just incase you came upon a spot and wanted to fish with a scented bait and not near a bait shop, youve just saved me a few bob......

berkley gulp i have to say is pretty good. their not meant to be fished staticly like a traditional worm bait. instead fish them on the move for the likes of pollock and other predetory species. ive had quite a few fish mostly pollock, using gulp ragworm and sandeel on a running ledger spun over dirty ground or gilling off the boat. in terms of a replacement for the traditional bait fished static on the bottom they are useless!

Interesting Eric about movement, I have used the berkley rag and peeler crab on the bottom static and no joy. But have caught flounder with the "flounder" bait, it only works if you use a whole piece, its red and has a strange "u" shape so if you stick half one on-no joy. So do probably work best with movement.

I'd still save my money though next time.

Tried the lug as a static bait ages ago.. I honestly thought that they were intended as a static bait because of the liquid and advertising on the tub.. I have tried the sandeels and they are decent enough for spinning but they are in a vacummed packet

I find that the sidewinder sand eels are great for spinning. The storm sand eels.......not so good.

I'd agree. Sidewinders are what got me into fishing. Few lads out on a boat mack bashing and i started to chuck a few sidewinder eels. I was using a trout rod and hooked a load of pollack to about 4lbs. Never looked back. :D Still my favourite lure for picking out larger pollack.
