Poolbeg, Dublin, 22-07-2010

People: Me, myself and I

Duration: Few hours

Tide: Rising and an hour down

Weather: Overcast and a little blowy

Bait: Rag, squid, mack and sandeel

Rigs: Pully and standard paternosters

Results: Nowt

Report: Decided on a short session at poolbeg, considering a few good fish have been caught there recently. Decided to try for the odd bass or smuts with the larger whole squid baits for the bass and rag tipped with squid for smuts (the peeler picking session on tuesday was a washout, next time I leave the kids at home :|). First cast saw a good thump of a bite on the rag, but missed it, this was again repeated again on the second and third cast, then nothing. No more bites, except the odd nibble from crabs, and the squid remained untouched. I am sure the first few bites were smuts, but I cant be 100%. Shame, a fish would have made a nice morning out even better. Still, it was nice to escape for a few hours, and get some peace and quiet away from the bloody kids :)

Howya Matt!

Good to see youre still doing a bit. Far cry from those night sessions on Greystones way back when!

Hope youre keeping well.

Ello pal, yeah I am still about, not done much sea fishing lately, been concentrating on coarse fishing, mainly chasing pike and carp. How have you been man? hope you are all well.

We shall have to meet up soon for a session or two :)
