gunwell 23/07/10

#1 Post by grady »

hi all, left a house at 4.00 am with 2 hour to drive ahead so arrived at my lug digging field few mins after six, but the water was to high to dig the lug (HW) 5.10am then think what to do and i remember about the pier one man was talking about few weeks ago, so decide to have a look to it and make a cast, drove whole way down on pier that mean can fish from the car  had only sand ell and frozen mackerel, tide was just droping so bait my one rod and cast as after few mins got a bait but no fish on atleast something is there though, after few casts got nice flounder so think its could be worth to try for a longer time, well tide droped a bit i packed my gear and moved to dig few worms and to the gunwell after but on the way down stoped in fintragh beach but no joy so arrived in gwell on 10.30am set my 2 bait rods wait for 20 mins but no bait then rebait them and start to cast with feathers for macs but acs werent here. first bait on bait rod gave me wee dab and then started bait after bait got 6 dabs and 1 thornback ray about in 1.1/2 hours time and then went quaet for a while as this usual in this mark, took my light gear with the float on it and fish for a wrasse as they were very common got plenty of them about 10 nice ones up to 2lb and loads of small ones. so fished to the HW at 5pm packed my gear and went home with total cach 1 thornie 6lb, 6 dabs, wrasse, 3macs, 2 wee pouting, 1 sea scorp that was the last fish of the day oh ya and swimming crab also
