clifden area co galway 18th july 2010

#1 Post by gfkelly1969 »

People:myself

Duration:19:00 to 23:15

Tide:low 17:05 1.5m high 23:27 4.3m

Weather:dry and windy

Bait:razor fish,white rag,lug,mackerel,sand eel,feathers

Rigs:feathers,3 hook flappers,conger trace

Results:2 dogfish,12 pollack,2 mackerel

Report:went out yesterday to dig some lug and came across some white rag as well, good to know where to get a few rag :D

today was windy so decided to head for the local pier for a few casts
started the session with a dog fish followed by another
DSC06530.JPG
then the bait rods went quite so i set up one rod with a conger trace and dropped it down the edge but it was untouched for the night
set up the other rod with feathers and caught 12 pollack and 2 of the biggest mackerel i have caught this year
DSC06535.JPG
DSC06537.JPG
the mackerel i caught with the 2 pollack put up a great fight,he towed the 2 pollack around like 2 skiers on the back of a boat
i also was told about two good marks, one for mullet so will have to have a go for a mullet soon

I would be on for a session, looks like it could be good for the huss mark, the weather forecast says the winds will be light and from the south west
