GALWAY BAY: after the blank on Monday off the rocks, tried a few hundred yards off shore from the boat - filled 2 freezer boxes - they are there, but out a bit - great day until I had to radio for the RNLI!

Two cool boxes filled with mack in a couple of hours out of Dunlaoghaire yesterday evening 20th July with two of us in the boat. There were a good few lads casting off pier but didnt seem to be getting much.

I tried off Coliemore pier on sunday afernoon and got 2 in half an hour (and a sore arm and lost tackle on the pots outside the harbour  ).I had earlier seen lads drifting down Dalkey sound pulling out full houses on hand lines .Thats the way forward ..

I was going to say there are plenty out there but a big cast off the shore but you found out for yourself. They dont come in too close on the big westerlies we've been having.

CORK

Hi lads, I've been away for a few weeks to South Africa for the World Cup. Did lots fishing there as well. Definitely the place for shore/sea fishing. Some good fish out there. Also mangaged to see the Sardine Run.
Anyway has there been any macerel actrivity in Cork?
Been away so don't really know what's happening on the fishing front. If there are any mackerel being caught in the Cork area please let me know.

4 dozen!? nice... are you off the pier? which one? colliemore has been very unproductive over the last number of weeks - i have been trying it on the ebb and on the rise - very frustrating. I have heard sorrento point can be good off the rocks? but how do you get down to the rocks??? looks inaccessible!?

I tried Dillon's Park in Dalkey last night. No joy, but I was told that they'd been catching fish earlier in the day

Hokkais will work if the fish are about, I was there Friday evening and got loads of Pollock on Kilty, no macs.

Just saw this one Conor .

No - out of the mouth of the dunlaoghaoire harbour in my boat .I fished Coliemore once last week off the pier after seeing some guys in a boat tearing mack out of the sound with hand lines .I had 2 in half an hour and dropped a couple .Hard work.Easier to launch.
