dileee wrote:just in from a dissapointing mackerel session..well i only fished for about an hour and a half at the metal man in tramore...not even a sniff..thats my second outing in a week and only 2 fish to show for it...what the hell is goin on..the metal man is usually e great spot for the makerel...anybody know what the story is...........
on a different note went out for a evenings Bass fishin the other day caught 2 nice Bass about the 2/3 pound mark but by god was i plauged by bloody eels...2 days in a row every cast without fail...little beggars nearly done my head in...nice to know they are makin a comeback though
I was wondering the same I went to Ballymacaw CoWaterford yesterday the 15 july zero, then in the evening went down to the flat rocks in dunmore east with my mate and all we got was a proper soaking. I would love to know why I am unable to catch a single Mack in Waterford this year is anyone else finding the going hard?

4 big Macs today from shore at Greystones.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

Re: Mackerel in Dublin?
Was out at DL on Thursday last with my son, and nowt was had by us on the mack rigs, although I did manage one dog. From what I gather by chatting with a few other anglers on the pier, macks are deffo hard to come by atm. They are being caught from boats just off the ends of the piers, but not coming any closer :/

I've been out in Waterford too, was at the Iron Man in Waterford friday and nothing, not even a sniff. I was told the weather is driving them out into deeper water. Caught nothing in Dunmore East a few weeks ago too.

Re: Mackerel Reports '10 here......
Caught two during a short early morning session on Saturday morning at Rocks in Dalky. Tide was out and I wasn't expecting much. I mannaged to catch three pollock aswell. I was using a spinner but the fella next to me had a full house before I left.
Had another go last night, three different marks in the same area. Caught nothing.
