Macks and pollock

#1 Post by smutman »

headed to the hook last Friday.
It was a dirty damp day. There was a nice bit of a swell on and the usual platforms to fish on were dodge as hell to fish. Got down to the first mark and there was 2 lads fishin or more like swim on the platform mad feckers.
Setup a floating rig with a rag and fished up about 30m for the swimmers. was'nt long before i was into the 1st pollock about 2lb abit of work get him up the ledge but it was better then riskin goin for a dip in the soup.
Had about 5 pollock from this spot all around 2lb.
Decided to move on to a slightly more sheltered spot to try the spinning gear.
Was fishing nearly 30mins without any takes and the light was startin to fade, was thinking of packin it in.
Then something hit the spinner hard those mackeral are like torpedoes when you use light enough gear. Got him in a nice horse mackeral had another 1 shortly after around the same size. Have yee found the macks you get spinning are general bigger than those caught on feathers?? Decided to head home then and have some nice grilled mackeral.
