it's not a myth that i am on about eric it,s the size of the waders your wearing. you read my post wrong i was talking about you not someone in a bathing pool.
they might be your down fall, you could fit two sods in them side by side,
and when the water does fill them up wou will not be able to get yourself out of the sea, because sea out of the sea in a big rubber container is very heavy

the lad in your video is big with tight fitting waders the way they should be, less chance of water getting into them .

Very interesting clips there eric, another lesson learned. I always wondered why so many people wore waders on boats, I always thought they would be a drowning hazard but I stand corrected.

your forgetting this amazing force called pressure john. the pressure from the water will remove all air from inside the waders and compact them to my skin. the idea of waders filling up with water is indeed a myth. so in conclusion i didnt read your post wrong. being honest even if you were right, its my choice, im an adult and im perfectly able to make decisions for myself. an internet forum is not a place for you to act like my dad. i dont need a lecture i get enough of them at ucd.

nice eel Eric, used to fish for them as a kid in the '80s at roadstone in Arklow!
guys, if the chest waders are not for wading(rock fishing) and purely for clothing protection??? i could be wrong here but to me
they are worn for the mess associated with fish, bait etc.
would it not be better for anglers to use a rubber/plastic apron type thingy?
mobility, sweating ease of wearing/removing when necessary would be great all round.
everyone here are pointing out facts about chest waders and the fact is we are all here
to enjoy fishing at its best so if it helps this thread, about congor eel fishing,, and safety,
i would use an apron to take the eel slime rather than waders. easier to clean and dry out too.
:) :)
i think water/wellies/waders and chest waders deserve a safety post of its own.
eg. even wading in fairly shallow water and stepping into a hole dug by a bait-digger or tidal steps along our beaches etc!!
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,
topknot:), cod, conger, corkwing wrasse, smooth hound.

Nice Eel Eric. the first photo is very flattering, the eel looks much bigger than a 16. Glad to see Shaneh is teaching you to make proper baits with a decent size hook :D Just think, if you had used a rod with a bit of backbone you would have landed the second fish
Well Done.
