another 40lb tope from the shore

#1 Post by bubba gump shrimp »

People:myself and doit1983

Duration:5am till 9am

Tide:falling and low

Weather:dry calm and warm

Bait:mac

Rigs:pully

Results:doit1983 tope myself blank

Report: Myself and doit decided to get up early and try for the tope from are shore mark as it was meant to be a low tide this morning we set off around 4am and were fishing for 5am. We tryed for the mac first as we did not have much bait but there were none biting so with 2 whole frozen mac 2 mac fillets and 3 peeler crabs we set off in search of a tope. 2 weeks ago we 4 weeks ago i caught a 40lb tope from this mark, 2 weeks ago forest had a tope around 25lb so doit was the only one out of the three of us still to catch. we were fishing about 15 mins when doit got his first pick up but it droped it and left it about 10mins later i got a pull but same again it droped the bait we were beginning to think it was going to be a blank for us both when doit's rod started screaming he was into a good fish. after about 10 mins fighting it i managed to tail it for him unhooked weighed it took pic and returned her safely to fight another day. The fish was bouncing between 39 and 41 pound before settling on 40lb 8 ounce. Three trips 1 fish each two 40 pounders and a 25 pounder and a lot of missed fish not bad i think.
