Report: with our boat trip being cancelled i had to hatch a new plan to use up all the bait we had gathered. so i decided on a north antrim rock mark where i knew we stood the chance for something out of the ordinary or something with a bit of weight to it

. i have been promising to get liam out for a session with us for ages, but because of conflicting working shedules and family committments this was the first chance he had to make it on a session. i was glad to hear that his expectations were set pretty low as he reckoned it would be a good day so long as he did'nt blank

. that was'nt gona be a problem

. we arrived at the mark and got set up with bites coming from the get go

. another angler came over and introduced himself as he knew us from our reports and the usual fishing chat ensued

. jordan was first into a fish with a few wrasse and liam had dropped down in hook size and was duely rewarded with a few ballan and corkwing wrasse. so he was happy as his dreaded blank was put to rest and the fish came in at a good pace. suncream was the order of the day as the sun was scorching and we all got a good bit of colour to us. we all fished 1 rod each with both me and jordan opting to fish the bottom and liam set up a sliding float. a good mix of species came in with wrasse to 2lb and a 1lb pollock for jordan. as we approached high water i tried a bit of fluff chucking and was pulling in wee pollock and coalies 5 at a time. great craic on light spinning gear. i also got a lucky full house of macks, but as soon as the shoal appeared it was gone again

. the highlight of the session was jordan getting 2 conger eels on his bass rod. one of them came in at 6lb on the nose and gave him a great scrap. there were 2 runs on the boat rod but sadly no hook ups. all in all a great day out in the sun with plenty of fish for us all. what more could you ask for
