galway bay 13/7/10

People:myself and alex

Duration:few hours

Tide:dropping

Weather:SE then NE wind, cold and wet

Bait:frozen blacks, mack and squid

Rigs:3 hook clipped/flappers

Results:alex: 2 flounder 1 coalie
myself: 4 flounder, 1 turbot

Report:Decided to try a few marks today with alex, winds and tides were compleatly wrong but we said we would give it a go anyway. Got to the mark only to see the beach destroyed in weed so we moved off to another mark closeby.
Same story here, but we decided to fish on, after an hour or so of no fish, rain and weed we moved again. Bad idea, less weed but baits were compleatly stripped after 2 minutes of the bait hitting the water. Things were not looking good, so we moved to another beach...again weed everywhere and coloured water but i managed a flounder 1st cast, small only 20 cms but a very welcome sight! Rod tip started to nod again and i pulled out a better flounder of 26 cms. Only had enough time for one more cast, and no more fish. We badly need a few more fish after all this walking so we decided to stop at one more mark. I was first in with a small 18cm flounder until alex finally pulled in a little coalfish. Shortly followed by a nice 30 cm flounder.I got another flounder shortly after, 20cms on the button at the same time alex pulled in another. It all started to go quiet then i got another rattle on my rod. Got a small turbot on the end, my first in darkness and in this part of galway so hopefully its the sign of many more to come. Anyway, a decent days fishing which worked out well in the end.
